Aims and scope
The journal Polarforschung (PolF) is published by the German Society for Polar Research (DGP) and the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI). The multidisciplinary journal is devoted to contributions from all polar research disciplines, comprising scientific reviews, documentation of outreach and stakeholder activities, and news from the polar community.
According to its mission statement, the DGP represents polar and high mountain research. Since these areas are particularly sensitive to environmental changes, they are extremely relevant to life on earth. The DGP perceives the following as its responsibilities:
- bringing together scientists from different disciplines and thus promoting exchange and research
- anchoring the importance and results of polar research more firmly in society and politics
- active involvement of young scientists
- intensification of the social dialogue about the future of the polar and high mountain regions.
